Do you ever feel ...

... Like you have so much to do, that you just don't know where to start, so you procrastinate, then there is even more to do and its like a never ending road stretching out ahead and you can't seem to enable yourself to take just one step?

Thats a bit like how I have been feeling this week. After our lovely weekend away I had three days worth of washing to do for the 4 of us, not so difficult in itself but its most of the children's winter wardrobe, add to that it has been raining and grey here most of the week too, making it difficult to dry washing. My routine is thrown out of Whack with the Mr having been sick and spending two days at home this week. I have been very absorbed with the online relocation of the D2E forum, and so very slack at replying to comments, emails and visiting my blogging friends. I do whip around and read every few days but not much commenting happening I'm Sorry.

Yesterday I finally got caught up on the washing, and we have had two days of sun. I definitely find the sun plays a role in my motivation and energy factors. I have one basket of folded towels to put back in my crazy linen cupboard and I'm up to regular workload for washing.

I have started to fold my washing at the line when I'm bringing it in and it works well for me, regular readers might remember a picture I posted a little while ago and I have a bench under my clothes line which, it turns out, is also a great folding and sorting place. I benefit from being out there in nature, breathing some fresh air in the quiet for a few extra minutes.

My favourite self seeded pin wheel daisy

While we were away the rose started to open its spring blooms, beautifully blushed with pink and the daisy's are showing their happy faces to the sun too. The garden has been playing on my mind this week as the weeds run rampant and I have seeds to plant and no plan of where or how I'm doing it, cherry tomato seedlings on my window sill needing to go some where now, snail protection needing to go in place, potatoes voluntarily popping up in last years left over mulch ... and various other things.
I'm playing along with Kate Pickles Garden week this week, nice timing for me Kate.

I did get to spend a little time in the kitchen this week as Dad popped in for a visit, he comes here quite regularly  to see the kids and almost equally important is his feed of Sultana Cookies.  He says they remind him of his mums cooking, but he is known to have a silver tongue and so I'm not sure if I believe him or not, none the less he obviously enjoys them and asks for them so we make them. The kitchen is todays tackle task and once I get it back up to my clean and  up to date state I am hoping menu plan and baking with follow smoothly, its been a few weeks between loaves of home made bread here.

I also got to spend an afternoon whipping up a skirt for Miss5 this week so My normal balance is being slowly restored, I am making an effort to do some knitting each night as I slowly progress through The Mr's Scarf. I have an itch for some crochet to and feel a bit thwarted by my pattern reading inability. I will be pulling out some 4 ply cotton and a small hook soon to try my hand at something soon to be revealed.

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend and encourage you to spend 15 minutes doing something you have been putting off or are finding difficult to tackle. Set a timer and do it. Then take a 30 minute break doing something you enjoy or having a cuppa and go again for a 15 - 30 if you want or can. I read this method on the Down to Earth Forum and it has really helped me start to get back on track here this week.

My kitchen is calling.
Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Hi Tammy. Glad to hear you're chipping away at getting some kind of order in your home. I can completely relate this week....things seem quite out of control after we were away for the second week of the school hols, and then I had my little surgery which has slowed me down for the last week and a half. All the rain has been welcome down here but it hasn't done much for the washing pile, nor my spirits. I feel so much more motivated with the sun shining. Anyway, enough waffle from me. Thanks for sharing what's happening in your world. Hope the week to come is productive :) Love Anita. xxx

  2. How timely...I just made myself wash the dog as it has been on my to do list for too long, poor thing :(
I am now taking some time out for a cuppa and a little computer time.
Works for the 15:30 even though I didn't consciously do it ;)

Glad you are chipping away at getting up to date and your routine happening again, and so glad you are getting some sunshine at last, I know how important the sun is to you.
    Hugs.

  3. Totally totally relate! After being away for 12 days with one it is REALLY hard to get back into the swing of things with four.
I like the idea of 15 mins. I use the hour house, hour sewing/blog/computer rule but at this stage 15 mins sound much more achievable.
Glad the sun has been our and you have caught up! Don't miss the winter washing ;) xox

  4. Nice blog post. Good to catch-up with you and your family and you fun but busy life. I hope you have a fun weekend. That flower is beautiful and out-of-this-world unusual. Cookies look yummy.

  5. Funny you should write about procrastination. Bren and I just sat down and wrote an enormous to do list and here I am 5 minutes later reading and commenting on blogs. Well maybe I can justify it by claiming it as my 'for me' thing.

  6. It doesn't take much for what little routine I have to get off track too!
You need to blog that biscuit recipe too... just the thought of them is making me drool!

  7. I was nodding and muttering yes yes yes yes all the way through you post. How quickly it takes for all those mundane jobs to build into a seemingly unconquerable mountain. I'm so very good at avoiding & procrastinating - so thank you very much for your advice at the end. Will log off now & put it into practice immediately (otherwise no doubt I'll put that off too)... so thanks & farewell - I've got things to do!

  8. Tammy it sounds like you got an insane amount done this weekend! Laundry is neverending for me too andthere are only 3 of us in the house. RIght now L'il B goes through 2-3 outfits a day and I am not precious about the state of his clothing either. But he loves to find puddles and sit in them... or dump his food over his head.
Those cookies look delicious. Hope we get a sneak peek the little skirt soon. xo Meagan.

  9. Where do you start? Good question but when the list is long anywhere will do.
Lovely post Tammy i have missed you.
Can you share the recipe for the sultana cookies. To me there is nothing better than a homemade biscuit. Your dad must agree with me.
Bread hasn't been happening in my house either.
Hope this week is less haectic for you.

  10. That pin wheel daisy is just amazing. I have never seen anything like it. You sure sound busy. The bench by the clothesline sounds wonderful.

  12. Great advice. I seem to overload myself and have been just trying to keep my head above water these days.

  13. I’ve started to fold my washing under the line also. It makes a huge difference – otherwise our washing more often than not sat on a lounge all week. We never got on top of it.

Off to check out what Kate Pickles garden week is -although should stop procrastinating and do some housework :-)
