Makeover - My Creative Space

Have I really not posted since Saturday?
My Lil Girl started Kindergarten this week which means establishing a whole new household routine.  It will ultimately be good for us all as my mornings are super productive, I'm getting more exercise, spending more time with Lil Boy. Dave is back to early rising and gym visits. After school time I am trying to keep free, well aside from dinner preparation etc.

So while ultimately it will be better, good and healthy, it is also going to take a bit of settling in and getting used to. This week I have had a mild flu too so with a sore throat and runny nose adding in the school walks has me feeling a bit flat and lethargic now.

I think I have settled on paint colours but will more than likely wait until we have some market value assessments done before I start anything. Just need a better idea of what we are going to do and where to focus.  I'm still slowly working on my 365 de clutter with a late start and that's what brings today's creative space. I have had three coloured glass bottles sitting around in various locations since the early 90's. The two larger ones are starting to get tatty and flake paint over what ever surface they rest on, they serve no real purpose and I wasn't loving them so they were on my give away list but then I had an idea, as I had broken my favourite bud vase a few weeks ago. Bud vases are essential for mums to pop all those Dandelions we are lovingly given in!

So I got to work in some warm water and with more than a little elbow grease. It was a bit like getting a tough label off a bottle I had to leave them soaking a few times. I was surprised to find a candle melted into the bottom and dripping down the insides of the curved bottle. I managed to get most of the wax out by filling it with water and giving it 10 sec blasts in the microwave, as the bubble and and warmth in the glass melted the wax it would float up and I could scoop it out. So now I have two sweet mess free bud vases.

The Yellow bottle is the third of the trio and is actually coloured glass from Spain there is something about it that holds strong appeal to me so I was planning to keep it for a bit longer ; )
Maybe I'll get some sewing in today who knows? I'm enjoying a few quiet child free hours.

  14. When we were first married i had bottles exactly like that, lined up in different colours on our window sills with random flowers in them. My husband hated them & they didn't move to the next house. Bummer, they were cute, but that was so 1997. Now they look fabulous again. Oh well, live & learn, love Posie
