A weekend away.

We spent the weekend in Port Macquarie. It was a busy long weekend with lots of driving and a lovely wedding. Our accommodation was in a picturesque place and I'll share a few photos from our weekend. Saturday the day of the wedding was beautiful in terms of weather and this lovely Kookaburra came down to our room railing for his breakfast and was most obliging in posing between worms for some photos.

We were quite close to the water and there were lots of little outcrops of rocks with beautiful blooms growing wildly above the waters edge.

The wedding had a beachy relaxed theme with sand and shells used through the invites and table settings.

Here we are on the night.

So thats a few pretty shots of what we got up to.

It was our first time leaving our kids without either parent and they had a great time. It was good but also hard to do emotionally for everyone. Thought they had a great time it is obvious they are as happy to be home as we also are. There has been lots of cuddles, stories and bonding this morning before a late start for school.

On the way home we popped into Dave's Poppa's house. Poppa passed away earlier this year and some of the family were there sorting through the possessions, doing the difficult emotional and physically tasks of sorting through their dads life time in the house they spent their childhood. I bought home some vintage tablecloths, a  pretty crochet doily, a gorgeous vintage glass, a couple of books and some more practical items too, a Tool box Poppa made from wood, some tools and bits and pieces. I feel really honoured to have these items of his family's history in our home and while the table cloths were chosen for their refashion ability, I do still treasure the history in them one obviously being hand made in an era before me.
It was a welcome break in our journey that we were not expecting and it was wonderful and refreshing having Dave's Auntys sharing stories of their childhood antics and treasure memories in that house.

Well for now its into piles of washing, and regaining some routine for me. Also some computer time on the agenda with email catching up and the big Down to Earth Forum move. I'll pop back in the next few days and share some of our historical treasures.
