I realised recently that I had not ended up sharing the finished cushions I was working on before Christmas. I have a terrible bloggy habit of saying I will be back with something or follow up on something and then never do! Sorry.
So here is the front of my Girls cushion, I replicated 4 blocks from the "200 crochet blocks" book x 2 and then chose a different design for the centre, I did a few rows of double and single crochet in the coordinating colours to create a border and joined with a single crochet seam on reverse in one pink horizontally and the other vertically.

For the back I did large plain coloured granny squares finished with a border of single crochet on each square. when they were all joined I did border rows similar to the front. I really love the look of these simple plain grannys blocked up like this and aspire to make a plain granny blanket in the future.

My boys cushion was a simpler design in that I replicated the same block, in the same colours, used in three different combinations. The join and the border are a 4th colour which I also incorporated into the back. for the back of this one I just made one large square of similar design to the smaller blocks used in the front.

I used Bendigo Woolen Mills 8 ply cotton for both of these and used a 4.50 hook.
Colours used in the Girl cushion are - Pink Rose, glacier, snow, light teal and the darker pink is a discontinued shade from my stash. In the Boys I used - French Navy, Pomegranate, Light Teal and Latte.
I was looking forward to seeing my handy work prettying up the lounge room but my kids took their prizes off to their bedrooms to adorn their beds :)
I've linked up with this weeks creative spaces
They both look great T!
ReplyDeleteAren't colour combos funny, the light teal looks like two different colours in the two cushions.
I am not surprised they ended up on the owners beds, they must love having their own cushions made by Mum :)
Absolutely love these cushions Tammy!
ReplyDeleteOh Tammy! They are absolutely gorgeous!
