I have been wanting to do this for the longest time, this was how the narrow shelving the the kitchen used to look, my books all overhang the edge and my 'thrifty Kitchen' book was sitting closed on the book stand then in the middle of the night a week or so ago it feel down making a big clatter on the crockery below.
That was the push I needed to take the action so I headed out to the wood stack and found an old bit of trim, I sanded the snail poo off and cut it to size with a hacksaw.
Then I most imperfectly hammered it in place with little silver nails, to form a lip. Now all of my books front face and cover up some of the disliked wall colour.
It makes the kitchen seem warmer and the books are much more appealing and now seem to be calling me to use them, I'm really happy with it, as long as I don't look too closely at my hammer work. :)
Fantastic idea T!
ReplyDeleteAnd good on you for doing it yourself :)
It looks fabulous Tammy! I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteI really like that Tammy...and you always wanted to learn to do your own woodwork. We bought a saw today and I can see some DIY in my future too ;)

A simple solution to a common problem! Love it. And shows off the lovely covers instead of just the spines.
