I love my Thrifty Kitchen Cookbook but think this may possibly be the first time I have used it ... Oh no wait I did take the tips for the perfect mashed potato and possibly a stock recipe from it. :)
I was itching to bake something in the new oven and had some Bosc Pears on hand for the first time ever.
I skimmed over the Plum tea cake recipe in search of something that used Pears then started thinking Surely I could sub Pears for Plums and went back to read the recipe more carefully. Sure enough it says it right there as a suggestion to use Pears - or basically any in Season fruit.
The result a delicious afternoon Tea on Sunday.
We are having a pear affair here too. So autumnal!
