When I was at the markets last week I saw these Blood Orange marked 'Super Juicy!' I have never tried or seen a blood Orange before and thought perhaps they'd be good for fruit Salad.
I haven't had a chance to make any fruit Salad yet and haven't baked in what feels like an absolute age ( Still trying to find my balance and rhythm )
icing coloured with a blood orange. |
So when I baked Chocolate Cupcakes this afternoon the blood Orange called to me from the bowl - perhaps because I was adapting an orange cake recipe. The kids are happy to have pink icing and it is a great citrus compliment in addition to the Choc cake.
This is such a clever idea, I never would have thought it would colour the icing. I bet they taste yummy, citrus is always a winner for me. Have a great weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteI've never eaten one either Tammy, were they nice?

Oh i bet that tastes delicious & is juicey too. Fantastic. If you're looking for something to do tomorrow with the children, the MOCCA Spring Fair is on, love Posie
ReplyDeleteyummo!!
ReplyDeleteI love blood oranges! They're also good sliced up (across the segments) and served with chocolate tart & cream for a bit of fanciness if you're having people over for dinner. Very simple but very striking :-)
ReplyDeleteDid you taste the orange seperately? Yummo? I've never had one either!
ReplyDeleteWhat a Fabulous idea Tammy :)
