Welcome Spring!

.... and Hello New camera!
My new Canon 650D arrived yesterday and I will be spending a lot of time getting to know it, My subjects at this stage are nature, Blythe dolls and Children - all in my experimental stage of learning. Here is a sampling of the pictures I took in the garden over the last two days. These were all taken in late morning to early afternoon sun, I hope to get out in some late afternoon light soon and put it through it paces soon.
I am loving the sharp detail I can get and I must admit the bokeh backgrounds I can achieve are blowing my mind with their beauty. This is my first DSLR camera, and I only got one lens with it but I am itching for a longer one so I can photograph the birds with this clarity!
No more words, just lots of pictures!

I hope you enjoyed this little look at some of the life in my garden
Thanks for stopping by sweet readers! x

  1. Lovely photos. Have fun with it. I bought a big Nikon DSLR just on two years ago after a lifetime of being not very good with cameras at all. A friend talked me into it and I am very grateful. Hours of enjoyment. I originally had 18-55 mm lens but later bought 18-270 mm. It opened up a new world too, although it's very heavy. I do use both lenses. I bought a Sunsniper strap which helped. It goes across the body, rather than around the neck as I could not use a strap like that.

If you get a chance, go to Nursery workshop run by Tim Coulson. Heaps of good teaching there. Around $400 and they sell out very quickly.

For over a year I posted a photo a day at Project 365, free for first year. I found the discipline of posting regularly made me learn lots quite quickly. I admit that occasionally I cribbed and posted an old photo, but most were taken on the same day as posting. It made me see new ways of looking at things on those days when I couldn't get out. There are themes as well if you want to do them.

  2. Gorgeous shots Tammy!! Be warned, lens shopping is addictive - I have a whole cupboard of them ;) I can't wait to see what you do with your gorgeous girls with such a beautiful camera... You already take lovely photos.
