Knitting

For those of you visiting after 8/7/10 the actual creative space for that week is here ...
another winter hat Sorry for confusion!
Lately its all about finishing my Baktus Scarf. ** Well mostly about the knitting anyway, there is a little sewing and painting going on for a spruce up/makeover project!

Pic taken in dull winter morning light with flash

I have never knitted anything like this with a increase to a point and then decrease, also not being used to knitting with Skeins rather than shop bought balls; I didn't trust what my Scales were telling me in relation to when to start decreasing as the ball looked too small.
Now that I am about 1/3 through the decrease I see that looks can be deceiving and I should have stuck with what the scales were telling me regarding the weight of the remaining yarn. It will be just long enough to tie around my neck around kerchief style knotted back at the front. I'm thinking about potentially adding some sort of crochet border to the pointed edge when I finish the knitting.

  8. Not being a knitter, I don't understand the finer details of increases and decreases but I love the colour of the (was going to say wool) Skeins. This is what I love about blogging. I can feel inspired by others creations without having to pick up the knitting needles. Feel free to check out my novice attempts on my creative space.

  14. It looks great Tammy. Yep give me a good ol ball of wool anyday. i remember my first use of a skein last April i think i ended up with a mass of knots everywhere. For once my DH was more patient than me and he unravelled it all.

  16. The colour looks great - it is hard trying to ork out how much is in a ball when i has ben wound by hand - you tend to pull really tightly. I have worked ut how to do a centre pull ball with out a winder - should do a tutorial maybe:)

I have started one of these for my dad - really should get it finished.
